This course is structured for Civil engineering students to give them concept and theory behind the reinforced concrete design. In this course, the students will be able to understand the basic concepts behind Reinforced Concrete Design and methods for the design of individual members for bending, shear, torsion and axial forces. Topics covered will include: design of columns, footings, prestressed concrete members, bridges and retaining wall. The books: Design of Concrete Structures, 14th Edition, Arthur H Nilson., David Darwin and Charles W. Dolan, Design of Concrete Structures, 11 Edition, Arthur H Nilson, ACI 318-05 Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary, 2005 are used as references.
